Bethany is currently available for work opportunities.
I work best in collaborative, diverse, inclusive, human-centered design environments with creative, nimble, strategic teams, addressing complex issues centered in deep research, leading to tangible, real-world outcomes. 👩🏻💻
I know you're busy so I'll get straight to the point. I work with close collaboration and transparency: no pitching, no fancy presentations, all hands-on. By creating through real-time feedback to my clients, I can focus on quick iterations of work in progress, and my clients get a clear view of the creative process. I prefer getting straight to work so there's no big, beautiful shot in the dark.
If we're just now getting into it, I don't know your brand. I haven't worked there for years, I haven't been to the holiday parties, and I haven't built it from the ground up. But you know who has? You. This means we can dream bigger, or broader, or weirder. It gives us room to experiment as we’re figuring out what’s right for you.
A note about diversity and inclusion
Diversity in tech is far bigger than race, age, country of origin, accent, gender, size, physical ability, or faith. By that reason alone, it is our responsibility as designers to understand the audiences for whom we are designing for. I celebrate the complexity that results because of the many differences that exist among groups in one workplace. Preferred working environments are where we’re united in diversity: honoring perspectives, adding value, and making us stronger. ✨
My values when working in teams:
Build with Intention: I seek out all available data and carefully make decisions with intention.
Learning, Unlearning, and Teach Others: I’m an everyday student, committed to mentoring others and sharing what I know. I’m confident in saying, “I don’t know”, but the next step is always, “What root problem are we trying to solve? What questions can we ask to get to the answer?” I serve and inform teams how to ask questions, probe, and chip away at pieces of the creative challenge. This helps to make the tech world more accessible and develop/equip others as tech-communicators.
Place People before Tech: Technology is here to aid, not replace. I place customers' needs first.
Do the Right Thing: Our actions and inactions have impact. I make ethical decisions by prioritizing honesty and transparency, to work towards equitable and sustainable futures for all.
